Newest Project

My latest project is making bib samples for the Overbrook Quilt Connection. This pattern is from Whistlepig Creek Productions and is called Little Monster Food Catchers. The monsters are machine embroidery. The designs take a while to stitch out because they are stitches, not applique. The CD with the pattern has ten different formats. You must use heavy cutaway stabilizer. Then the bib is layered with batting and batting before being quilted and bound. The bibs really are cute.

Credit Card Holders

I have made credit card holders for several years. The pattern was provided at the Wednesday Sewing Group that meets every month at Bob's Bernina. The holders are made from fusible temtex or peltex. There is a small cord that goes though a grommet and when pulled, "pops-up" the credit card. The one with the "J" is for my medical information and has to be slightly wider because of the width of the Medicare card. The Jayhawk holder has been used by my daughter-in-law for two years and was returned for reconditioning. They are quick to make and clerks at stores are awed by them. When I travel "light", I only have the holder with my driver's license, credit card, and a little cash.

The Santa Fe Trail Quilt Guild's Donation Quilt

This quilt is called Midnight Garden and is from a book called Divide and Conquer by Nancy Smith & Lynda Milligan. The SFT quilt guild has several members who are expert appliquers, so they completed the applique strips of the quilt. The rest of us did the patchwork squares. The quilt went together beautifully and will be so striking when it is quilted. I am really proud of the work done by the guild members. They really come through when asked to join a project.
